For years these rings sold from a shop on King Street in downtown Charleston. Here is what happened, and where they go now.
A shop on King Street
King Street is the shopping street in downtown Charleston. For years these rings sold from a storefront on it - trays of them, and people trying on five at a time.
What we learned there is the reason this site exists in the shape it does. Almost nobody arrived wanting a specific ring. They picked one up, tried it, put it back, tried another, and left with one they had not expected to like.
Why the shop is not there any more
The landlord died. His son re-let the space while a lease renewal was still being negotiated, and the rent on that block runs to about sixteen thousand dollars a month.
So the shop closed for reasons that had nothing to do with the rings. They sold well the whole time. That is worth saying plainly, because a shop that is no longer there usually means something went wrong with the product, and here it did not.
How they are made
By hand, one at a time. A textured brass band, plated in 22K gold, with three semi-precious stones set one at a time into bezels shaped individually around each stone.
That last detail is why no two are alike. A bezel formed around one stone will not fit the next one, so each setting is worked to its own stone. It is also why the bands are not perfectly symmetrical, and why they should not be.

Every ring is photographed here, one at a time, on a sheet of black acrylic. The photograph on a listing is the actual ring you receive - not a sample, not a render, not a stand-in from the same batch.
